The jury deciding the fate of a British rapper accused of raping a fan in a hotel room in Australia have been unable to reach a unanimous verdict on all 10 charges laid against him.

YouTuber and musician Yung Filly has been fighting six counts of sexually penetrating without consent, three counts of assault, and one count of impeding another person’s breathing in Perth’s District Court.

After 10 hours of deliberations on Thursday, a jury of 12 men and women told the judge that they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the allegations against him.

The jury have now been told they can reach a majority verdict — where at least 10 jurors have to agree on whether the accused is guilty or not guilty.

The Youtuber and musician — whose real name is Andres Barrientos — is accused of biting, choking, raping and repeatedly slapping a 20-year-old fan in September 2024.

During the trial, which started on July 20, the court was told the pair went back to his room at the Intercontinental Hotel after he performed at Bar1 Nightclub in Hillarys.

There, the court was told, they engaged in consensual sex before it allegedly turned violent.

Prosecutors alleged the entertainer had bitten the fan, restricted her breathing and left her with bruises and wounds.

The court was told that when she asked him to stop, he continued to violate her.

Prosecutor Danielle Clarke framed Barrientos as an “entitled man” with a “moderate degree of fame”, who was sexually violent towards an impressionable young woman.

“She meant nothing to him,” she said.

Barrientos admitted to biting the woman on her face, neck and breasts.

“In England we would call it a love bite,” Barrientos told the court.

But he denied that the woman repeatedly told him to stop, or that he had forced her to continue.

Filly’s defence argued the complainant’s evidence was “riddled with inconsistencies, embellishments and outright lies”.

Defence lawyer David Edwardson attacked prosecution claims the woman had been a victim of a powerful man, saying she went to the “hotel of her own free will”.

“She was an adult, and she was perfectly capable of making her own decisions about what she would and wouldn’t do,” he said.

The jury will return to court at 9.30am AWST on Friday to continue deliberations.
