Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a young man on the NSW Central Coast.

The 22-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds on Mann St in Gosford about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Numerous emergency services vehicles were seen stopped along a section of the main street with fast food restaurants, a tobacconist and a bank.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before rushing him to Gosford Hospital, where he died soon after.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and called on anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
