Emergency services raced to the complex about 1.45am on Saturday but nothing could be done to save the young woman’s life.

A 31-year-old man, who was arrested in the early hours of Monday after presenting to a police station, has been charged with murder.

Victorian police believe the pair knew each other.

The accused is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Bonner’s aunt Kellie Carter Bell said the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“Three different people were ringing and texting me ... not our Jayda girl,” she told 7NEWS.

A 60-year-old man arrested shortly after Bonner was found dead has been released.
