Former NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet and his wife Helen have welcomed their eighth child, a baby boy born in Washington, DC.

James Fulton Thomas Perrottet arrived while the family is living in the United States capital, where Perrottet has relocated following his departure from politics.

The newest addition to the Perrottet family comes with a unique distinction - being born on American soil means James could one day qualify to run for President of the United States.

Under US law, anyone born in the country automatically receives citizenship and meets the constitutional requirement to seek the nation’s highest office.
