Lachie Whitfield is a man in demand with multiple clubs effectively pitching to the GWS superstar at Monday night’s Brownlow Medal count.

Whitfield has emerged as shock name to watch in the upcoming trade period despite being contracted on a lucrative deal until the end of next year.

Reports emerged that the Giants will listen to offers for the 32-year-old as they continue their list overhaul that has already seen Jesse Hogan, Jake Stringer and Toby Greene depart.

The two-time All-Australian had another productive season to finish sixth in the best and fairest, and would have no shortage of suitors.

7NEWS reporter Xander McGuire spotted a “fascinating” situation at the Brownlow Medal with Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks among the many to speak to Whitfield.

“Last night it was fascinating, and I know that fascinating is a word that we monitor, but it was fascinating to watch who was pitching themselves to Lachie Whitfield in the room last night,” McGuire said on The Breakers.

“I noticed three (clubs) ... As I was walking out, Matthew Nicks had Lachie Whitfield pinned in a corner, going hard.”

Mitch Cleary added: “Tex Walker said last week on Triple M that Wayne Milera needs help off half-back.”

But Adelaide aren’t the only club pitching to the running machine.

McGuire also spotted Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains “gunning” him, although they could face a salary cap squeeze given they have committed to Zak Butters on a multi-million dollar deal.

St Kilda superstar Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera also had an interesting chat with in-demand Giant.

“Then a senior Western Bulldogs person (Bains) had Whitfield and was gunning him,” McGuire continued.

“And then a high-profile St Kilda player (Wanganeen-Milera) went up to him when I was in ear shot and said something to him.”

Whitfield also played golf with some Carlton players last week.

“Yeah he is close to Nic Newman and Jacob Weitering ... I saw Carlton guys getting around him last night,” Morris added.
