A search is underway for three alleged attackers after a man was ambushed and stabbed at a his home.

A violent confrontation involving several people was reported about 3.45pm on Thursday, with emergency services sent out to the property on Arrabi Av in Jindalee, Brisbane.

A 42-year-old man suffered multiple serious injuries and was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery. He remains in a stable condition.

Police allege the three attackers fled before emergency crews arrived.

Neighbours reported seeing one of the men covered in blood and carrying a sword after the attack.

Detectives allege knives and a crowbar were also used during the incident.

Forensic officers returned to the property on Friday, examining a blood-stained car.

Police have declared a crime scene and no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
