A fisherman has died after being swept off rocks on the NSW north coast.
Emergency services were called to Conner Hurley Lookout at Evans Head — about 35 minutes’ drive south of Ballina — shortly after 11am on Sunday, following reports a rock fisherman had been washed into the water.
Officers from the Richmond Police District — along with Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics — attempted to assist the man, but he could not be revived and died at the scene.
Initial inquiries indicate the man had been fishing on a nearby rock wall when he was swept into the water.
