NSW Premier Chris Minns has spoken out after three women were allegedly murdered in domestic violence-related incidents across the state within just 10 hours.

The women, aged 23, 70 and 90, died in three separate incidents in Wagga Wagga, Bondi Beach and Mole River on Saturday.

The first occurred about 11.45am, when a 23-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed at a home on Ziegler Ave in Kooringal, Wagga Wagga.

Paramedics desperately tried to save her, but she died at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was initially arrested nearby but was later released without charge.

Police were told another man had left the home before emergency services arrived.

Following investigations, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home on Menzies Ave in the same suburb.

Police allege he was in a domestic relationship with the woman. 

He was charged with domestic violence-related murder and refused bail.

He did not appear in court on Sunday and will next face court on November 18.

About five hours after the Wagga Wagga incident, a 90-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death inside her Bondi Beach home.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Chambers Ave about 5.15pm, where the woman was found with significant injuries to her torso.

Despite efforts to save her, she died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man, believed to be the woman’s grandson, was arrested at the home and charged with domestic violence-related murder.

He was refused bail to face court on Sunday.

Then, about 9.35pm, a 70-year-old woman was found dead inside a fire-damaged home at Mole River, about 40 minutes west of Tenterfield.

Police had initially been called to a neighbouring property on Ironbark Rd following reports of a domestic violence incident.

Officers were told a 37-year-old man had entered the property and attempted to steal a vehicle before allegedly assaulting the 74-year-old male homeowner.

The man was arrested before officers went to the neighbouring property, where they discovered the woman’s body.

The home had also been partially damaged by fire.

The 37-year-old was later charged with murder, with police alleging he and the woman were known to each other.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Local Court 5 on Monday.

Minns described the three incidents as “shocking”.

“Three women have lost their lives in the space of one day,” he said. 

“These are shocking crimes and families are today dealing with unimaginable grief. 

“My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the women who have died, and the communities affected by these events.”

NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane said she was “horrified” by the deaths and warned they could not be treated as isolated incidents.

“These deaths are not isolated,” she said. 

“According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, a woman was killed every 11 days in 2024-25 by her intimate partner. 

“Even more women lose their lives when you include other family members.

“Women of every age, from a 23-year-old to a woman in her 90s, are still not safe in their own homes.

“Because these matters are before the courts, I won’t comment on the circumstances. But we cannot treat this as background noise. 

“We are failing women across our country and every level of government, and every one of us, has a responsibility to act.”
