The fuel crisis has taken a dangerous turn with a driver mowing down a Perth service station attendant and leaving them with serious injuries during a petrol drive-off.

Police were called to Vibe service station on Forrest Road in Armadale about 1pm on Monday after a man filled his dark-coloured sedan and began to drive off without paying.

“As the vehicle was attempting to leave, a male service station attendant attempted to stop the vehicle before being struck and injured,” a police spokesperson.

The victim, aged in his 30s, suffered serious facial injuries and was transported by paramedics to Royal Perth Hospital.

The driver remains on the run.

Police are urging anyone who has seen a dark-coloured sedan with damage to the windscreen and bonnet to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
