Forget endless swiping and awkward first dates, wealthy singles are increasingly turning to luxury matchmaking services with some paying as much as $350,000 for a professional cupid to help them find “the one”.

The exclusive industry promises complete discretion, carefully curated introductions and personalised support, connecting high-end clients with compatible partners around the world.

Speaking to The Morning Show, Cinqe Matchmaking matchmaker Lauren Hunter said while the most exclusive packages can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, services start about $25,000.

“The people paying more are going to have more access to my team around the world,” she said.

“I think people who have very long checklists, lots of dealbreakers, and a specific search are going to need more of my team, more demand, more time, more effort, so that’s where the price goes up.

“We’re finding a needle in the haystack for that client.”

Hunter said her team of eight, based across Los Angeles, New York, London and Dubai, carefully vets every potential match before making an introduction.

She said many of her clients are among the world’s wealthiest people, who often struggle to find genuine relationships despite their success in other areas.

Hunter said these clients frequently encounter people with the wrong intentions, prompting them to seek professional help.

Unlike traditional dating apps, Hunter said her service goes well beyond simply introducing two people.

“I’m their wingwoman, I’m their best friend ... I guide them, I coach them, sometimes I dress them, we talk about nutrition. It’s a holistic approach,” she said.

Hunter is preparing to release her first book on modern dating, which she hopes will become a practical guide for both singles and new couples navigating today’s dating landscape.

The book will also share the stories of her matchmaking team and how each found their way into the profession.

For those looking for love, Hunter said the biggest mistake people make is relying too heavily on rigid checklists.

Instead, she encouraged singles to stay curious, remain open-minded and focus on what they bring to a relationship.

“Look inwards, look in the mirror, see what you’re bringing and try and find someone that adds value but you’ve got to also add value,” she said.

While acknowledging her premium service is out of reach for most people, Hunter said there is still a way for everyday singles to get involved.

“The good news is that we have a free database, and anyone can join it. Those people on the free database can actually be matched with a premium client,” she said.
