Victorian Liberal leader Jess Wilson has refused to take anything for granted despite a new poll showing the Coalition ahead of Labor just over a month out from the state election.
The latest Newspoll puts the Coalition on 33 per cent of the primary vote, ahead of Labor on 24 per cent and One Nation on 20 per cent.

Labor is trailing by 10 points on a two-party-preferred basis, while Wilson is the preferred premier on 48 per cent, 14 points ahead of current Premier Ben Carroll.
But Wilson has played down the results, insisting she still has to earn the trust of voters before election day.
“I take absolutely nothing for granted,” she told Sunrise on Monday.
“My job every day between now and the election is to earn the trust of Victorians.”

Wilson said she had been hearing from voters concerned about the state’s direction while campaigning across Victoria.
Be the first to know:
“I spend most of my time out across this state listening to Victorians. I have people coming up to me and grabbing my arm and saying, ‘Jess, we have to fix this’,” she said.
“And they’re right, we do not have a moment to waste.”
The Opposition leader acknowledged the scale of the challenges facing the state, including rising debt and the need to repair roads and recruit more police.
Victoria’s debt is forecast to reach $160 billion, potentially rising to $200 billion by 2030, but Wilson said her team was ready to get to work from day one.
“It can’t be done overnight,” she said.
“It will take time, and I’ll always be upfront about the challenges that this state faces.”
She said a majority Liberal and Nationals government would be needed to implement the Coalition’s plans, including a 100-day plan designed to get to work immediately.
Wilson said her plan included recalling Parliament before Christmas to introduce tougher bail and sentencing laws.
“We will sit on Christmas Eve to get this done because my priority is to keep Victorians safe.”
