On the next Empower Hour, Tanya Gaw welcomes a special guest whose story is both deeply personal and profoundly important. Jocelynn Rodrigues will be joining us to share her experience of having an abortion at the age of 28—and the regret that followed.
Jocelynn’s journey began in high school when she was drawn into the LGBTQ agenda, which led to a prolonged identity crisis and an intense search for truth and belonging. That search took her deep into the New Age movement. Though it promised answers, she found it empty and unfulfilling. Her continued pursuit eventually led her into a genuine, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Once she fully surrendered her life to Him, true healing and restoration began.
It was during this turbulent season of searching that Jocelynn faced her abortion. Like many women, Jocelynn made a decision without being fully informed. She was led to believe that what was growing within her was simply a “cluster of cells”—not a developing human life with unique DNA, a beating heart, and an unrepeatable future. No one told her the full reality. No one showed her the life of the child in her womb. And she has often wondered: if she had known—if she had heard the heartbeat—would she have made a different choice?
Tragically, abortion has quietly become another form of birth control in our society. It is often spoken about in abstract terms, reduced to slogans and language that distances us from what is actually taking place. Such as “a woman’s right to choose” and “Reproductive Health”. But behind the language are real lives—fragile, developing human beings—and real consequences that can last a lifetime. This is not just a political issue; it is a moral crisis and a deeply human one that calls us to reflect on what we value, what we protect, and what kind of society we are becoming.
Jocelynn’s testimony invites us to look beyond slogans and consider the reality with honesty and compassion, for both mother and child. Her testimony shines a light on the urgent need for abortion legislation, informed consent laws and stronger protections for mothers and their unborn children. Her voice is a call for compassion, healing, and change.
Canada aborts over 100,000 babies every year while facing a declining birth rate. We don’t need to rely on mass immigration to solve our declining population—what we need is to value and protect every Canadian life, from the womb to the tomb.
