An Australian woman has been arrested in the US after allegedly voting illegally in two Federal elections.

Denise Nataly Migliore, 51, who is from Sydney but now lives in Franklinton, Louisiana, was arrested on July 1 following an investigation by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security officers.

Federal prosecutors allege Ms Migliore, a lawful permanent resident rather than a US citizen, falsely claimed she was an American citizen when registering to vote in October 2022 and October 2024

She is then accused of casting ballots in the November 8, 2022 and November 5, 2024 elections.

A Federal grand jury indicted on Ms Migliore on four counts on June 11, including making false statements to register to vote and illegal voting in a Federal election.

US President Donald Trump seized on the arrest In a Truth Social post including a link to a Just The News story about the case.

“Australian alien arrested after investigation finds she illegally voted in two federal elections,” he wrote on the platform.

The Trump Administration also issued a stern warning that “aliens” who illegally cast a ballot in the US will face the full force of the law.

“Her arrest and charges are the result of the hard work of the men and women of ICE law enforcement and our federal partners,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement.

“Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. Only Americans should be electing American leaders.”

If convicted, Ms Migliore faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and fines of up to $250,000 ($AU360,500).

She could also face deportation from the US.
