The Coles website and app have crashed after a pricing glitch sent bargain-hunting shoppers into a frenzy.

The apparent error was spotted by a Reddit user about 1am on Saturday, with cases of alcohol normally worth more than $100 appearing online for as little as $27.

“Found this. I’m assuming it’s a mistake?! Go get it before it runs out (or they notice) I guess,” the user wrote.

The post quickly took off, with the original poster saying it had attracted about 184,000 views by midday.

Shoppers flooded the comments with screenshots of their bargain orders, with some claiming they had successfully collected their purchases before the error was fixed.

Others, however, reported having their orders cancelled.

The Coles website and app later went offline for several hours, before services returned about 4pm.

Coles confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that it had experienced a technical issue affecting both platforms.

“Earlier today, we experienced a technical issue impacting the Coles website and app. The issue was identified and resolved with services now back online,” a Coles spokesperson said.

“Due to a technical error, select 24-pack beer and RTD (ready-to-drink) products were incorrectly priced on our website and app for a short period.”

The supermarket giant said the affected items had been temporarily made unavailable for online purchase while its teams worked to resolve any remaining issues.

“Impacted customers are being notified and any customers charged for the affected items will be refunded in accordance with our normal refund process,” the spokesperson said.

“We apologise for the error and any inconvenience caused.”
