Former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon has appeared before court for the first day of a double murder trial.

The 31-year-old was dressed in a grey suit before the Supreme Court in Sydney for the trial as he faces accusations of killing Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29, in their Paddington home in February 2024.

A jury will first be selected and sworn in by the court before the Crown lays out its case against Lamarre-Condon during the opening address.

Police allege Lamarre-Condon used his police-issued firearm to shoot and kill TV presenter Baird and flight attendant Davies.

Police uncovered their bodies in surf bags in a Bongonia water hole, almost 200km southwest of Sydney, about a week later, after Lamarre-Condon handed himself into police.

Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence murder and one count of aggravated break and enter (with intent to commit serious indictable offence).

He has denied the allegations of killing the couple and opposed any orders for a closed court, saying he “will not be silenced”.
